Web Logging

Weblogs are WebPages that can be frequently modified. They have become incredibly popular as they enable people to easily publicate content for a diverse audience on the world-wide web. This fantastic tool promotes flexibility and encourages interactions that have not been seen before in other publication formats.

The blogging phenomenon has been presented in various research as a dynamic and evolving communication genre. This encourages content and rhetorical analysis, and ethnographic interviews to categorize forms, functions, target audiences and the creator’s motivation within the blog. (Herring, Scheidt, Kouper. & Wright, (n.d.), p.1).

It is clearly evident that the use of web logging would be a vital ingredient within the classroom as it promotes the key aspects of critical literacy by positioning the student as a code breaker, meaning maker, text user and text analyst.
